In the U.S kids your age in Hondas are a huge joke. They buy civics and add a loud intake/exhaust with a great big shopping cart wing and then think they are \"fast and furious\" when in reality even grannys camry is much quicker. We already did that for you. The Cobalt SS is faster in every way for the same price. It accelerates much quicker and is faster around a track.

Arguing about this car being faster than other cars in its price range is pretty pointless. Its like saying the suzuki swift is a great performance value because its faster than some other slow ass car for the same price.. completely pointless.

The viper lap time you are talking about the civic being 3.5 seconds behind.. notice the \"vw\" below the time. The vipers lap was set in very wet conditions. Never mind how retarded you are for even trying to compare those two cars.

The Evo FQ400 would have its ass handed to it by a corvette Z06.. which is the same price. The FQ400 is one of the most overpriced cars out there.. anyone willing to spend nearly 80k on a mitsubishi is insane. As for the GTR.. its fantastic but its Japans only car that is posting supercar times. America has produced far more impressive cars than Japan has. Whats Hondas supercar killer?? The NSX LMAO

easy answer...the Renault Clio III RS Sport is faster around the track and has similar straight line perfromance and was cheaper than the Civic Type R in 2005 (Clio 21,900Euro vs Type R 23,095Euro) and btw the 2005 Golf GTI was only slightly more expansive with 24,200Euro but much cheaper to mod thanks to it´s turbo engine

Finally some1 talking sense, it got blown out of proportion about the type r, NIN i didnt post laptimes no but like i said the type r comes 3.5seconds behind the viper round the top gear track and its infact 1.24 seconds behind it before hammer head, lets be honest your american supercars such as the corvette and viper wouldnt get close to europes everyday family performance cars like an m3 and audi rs4.

Admit 95% of american cars are poorley built and not deigned to corner.

Come on Saleen S7, the new Ford GT anf the new Corvette are the only decent cars you have produced.

Then you got to take into consideration the value of them and compare them to the MITSUBISHI EVO 9 MRFQ 450 and NISSAN GT-R, which are far less in cost and just as good or better perfomers.

There are so many things completely wrong with what you are saying that it isnt even funny any longer.

Good luck finding a strait road in my part of the U.S in the Ouachita Mountains. The Cobalt SS held the Nurburgring lap record for a FWD and it completely kills the civic in handling, acceleration and ties its fuel economy. Sounds to me like you are a bit mad that the average granny car here in the U.S is quicker than this civic. Our American grannies will not be happy driving around a teeny little 1.2l Micra and that is why such cars dont sell well here. Try to merge onto one of our roads in a Micra and you will get creamed by a 18 wheeler for not being able to reach 70mph by the time you merge.

Like I said, you seem to think this is a fast car because it is faster than the little tin cans being driven around in your country but that is not the case here in the U.S.

You imply the viper (other american cars) do not handle well.. or that all our roads are strait, could anything be more ignorant?

Dom, YOU started the list of 0-60mph/0-100mph times for the various cars. YOU didn\'t list a single lap time for the cars YOU compared to this Civic.

The \"6.5 sec 0-60\" isn\'t impressive when the Camry next to you can run 5.8 seconds even though it is a granny car. The average age of a new Camry buyer is in the mid 50\'s (56 IIRC).

Now you want to bring laptimes into the equation. Do you want to compare the laptime of the Civic to the Cobalt SS/TC? I didn\'t think so.

(Now you\'ll say the Cobalt has a crappy interior compared to the Civic, right?)

If you want acceleration, the Civic isn\'t the best bang for the buck.
If you want good laptimes, the Civic isn\'t the best bang for the buck.
If you want a car to send your daughter off to college, well.....ok, maybe.
