BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - It’s now less than a month until the Showcase of the Immortals and wrestling fans are in fever pitch as WrestleMania XL quickly approaches.
While Cody looks to finish his story, The Rock drops f-bombs, and R-Truth, well, does whatever it is that R-Truth does, an apparent full card was leaked online last week showing every planned match for WWE’s biggest show of the year.
Some of the matches were official before the leak, others have since become official, some are obvious, and one wrestler is inexplicably missing. Let’s break it down (pun intended) and take a look at what the leak says will happen.
Possible Spoilers Ahead
WrestleMania XL - Night One
Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch for the Women’s World Championship
This was confirmed before the leak after Lynch won the Elimination Chamber in Perth.
Verdict: CONFIRMED
The Judgement Day (c) vs. The Awesome Truth for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship
This one is one that feels obvious after The Judgement Day not-so-subtly kicked R-Truth out of the group. (Was he ever really in it? He did sell a whole bunch of t-shirts!) It feels odd that DIY isn’t included here as they have emerged as a real threat in the tag team division.
Verdict: Likely
Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax
There have been a grand total of zero signs to build if this is indeed the plan. It could, hypothetically, make sense as Nia Jax seems determined to run through the entire women’s division like the “unstoppable force” she is billed as. If WWE is as determined to build Jade Cargill the way it seems they are, what better way than to step up and stop Jax?
Verdict: Possible
Logan Paul (c) vs. Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles vs. LA Knight vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Karrion Cross in a ladder match for the United States Championship
Well, that’s a lot. But it’s WrestleMania and there has to be the obligatory multi-person match to fit in as many people as humanly possible on the card. There are a lot of individual rivalries thrown into this idea, which adds to the believability of the leaked card.
Verdict: Plausible
The Kabushi Warriors (c) vs. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez vs. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter vs The Way for the Women’s Tag Team Championship
(See above about throwing as many humans on the card as possible.) Who knows, honestly? Damage Control’s focus is on the WWE Women’s Championship, but sure, they need to defend the Tag Team titles as well, so throw everyone at them.
Verdict: Why not?
Roman Reigns and The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin” Rollins
While this match is not officially announced (See SmackDown this Friday night at 7 p.m. on WBRC FOX6 for that!), it’s all but set in stone.
Verdict: CONFIRMED
WrestleMania XL - Night Two
Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn for the World Heavyweight Championship
This was partly confirmed before the leak after McIntyre won the men’s Elimination Chamber match. It was, in truth, a forgone conclusion with the way WWE had been building McIntyre. What isn’t certain is how Zayn factors in here. I can see it, though, as he and McIntyre have had issues this past year.
Verdict: Partially confirmed, partially plausible.
Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso
This one has been a long-time coming and was set up a few weeks ago on Raw when Jimmy attacked Jey during his Intercontinental Championship match. The brothers have said one of their goals is to face each other at WrestleMania.
Verdict: Not confirmed, but happening
Gunther (c) vs. Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship
Gable is not who I personally would pick to win this title. He’s been booked into a comedic role for so long that it just feels odd. But, the backstory is there for Gable to challenge Gunther.
Verdict: Possible
Bianca Belair vs. Tiffany Stratton
I don’t feel very strongly one way or another about this one. Belair is an established talent and could help continue to build Stratton as she gets her footing on the main roster.
Verdict: Possible
Iyo Sky (c) vs. Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship with special guest referee Dakota Kai
This was confirmed back when SmackDown came to Birmingham as Damage Control turned on Bayley, cementing that the winner of the 2024 Royal Rumble will challenge for the WWE Women’s Championship. The part that isn’t confirmed is having Dakota Kai as the referee. Could be a fun wrinkle as the Damage Control story continues
Verdict: Partially CONFIRMED, partially possible
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship
Here we go again. The Tribal Chief and The American Nightmare. This was confirmed after WWE had to pivot from a near disaster after The Rock returned to challenge Reigns. The only thing not confirmed about his is the stipulation of the match. Will The Bloodline be banned from Ringside or will it be contested under Bloodline Rules?
Verdict: CONFIRMED
The glaring absence here is Randy Orton. The Apex Predator returned at Survivor Series and has sense been a featured star on the blue brand. Barring some unannounced injury, I can’t see Orton being left off the WrestleMania card. But, where does he fit in? A seventh man in the ladder match?
Overall, every match on this supposed leak is not only possible, it’s outright plausible. Still, though, there are 30 days until WrestleMania kicks off from Philadelphia and a lot can happen. A lot can change.
The Road to WrestleMania continues Friday on WBRC FOX6 with Friday Night Smackdown live from Dallas.
